Rules/Regulations

  1. All anglers must have a VALID Wyoming Fishing License.

  2. This is a catch-and-release event.

  3. Points will be determined by the length of the fish. 1 inch = 1 point.

  4. All fish must be judged within the times provided for fishing (9:00AM - 4:00PM). Fish taken before or after the time-frame will not be accepted.

  5. Fish must be taken by fly fishing equipment certified as acceptable by an official of Joey’s Fly Rods or the Sheridan Fly Rod Co. The angler must have only one rod in their possession.

  6. Contestants will furnish their own fly fishing equipment. However, you may use flies and rods supplied by your guide. No rental of equipment will be available on site.

  7. Any conventional fly pattern (dry, wet, nymph, streamer, etc.) may be used. Type of fly rod, reel, and fly line is left to the judgment of the individual contestant. The use of fly floatant, weight, leaders, or any other accessories will be at the discretion of the contestant. No real or artificial fish attractants such as scents are permitted (this is considered “bait” under Wyoming Game & Fish rules).

  8. All flies must be barbless. The maximum number of flies used on one rod is two. The use of beads is not allowed.

  9. Any violation of any of these guidelines or any Wyoming Fishing Regulation will warrant disqualification of the fish and the angler will be disqualified from the entire event. All violations of Wyoming Fishing Regulations will be referred to the local Game Warden.

  10. Life jackets:  No waders or boots on kids. Wearing life jackets will be at the discretion of the guide/pilot and team coach. By law, every boat must currently have three life jackets.
